I just replaced mine this past weekend. I bought the Moog joints from Advance Auto Parts. I used a "loaner" ball joint press from Pep Boys, but it did not have all of the required receivers. As such, I bought the Master Ball Joint Adapter Set from Harbor Freight, too.

This YouTube video was helpful. I had never replaced ball joints before. It wasn't that bad, and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Just be sure that the press/clamp is properly aligned before you start clamping -- and that it stays aligned as you continue to crank it down. I found that the slight angle of the clamp's jaws did not exactly match the angle of the axle yoke, which means that you have to improvise a bit to ensure that the clamp presses the new ball joints in straight. Watch the video and you'll see where he uses a few flat washers as shims. I had to do the same thing.

Moog or Spicer Ball joints, youtube instruction and some patience and you will be good to go and only be out $100.

$500 is too much to pay someone to do that job.

I realised how expensive parts were over in BC when i spent a year living there. It was crazy for some things.
