so last night finally bought my first lift for my 99 cherokee, im 17 and dont really know to much about wheels. im looking at the m/t sidebiters 15x8 and it says 3.31in backspacing and -30.00mm offset. i plan on putting bf ats 31x10.5s on them. First will the tires fit on those wheels and second could someone explain what backspacing and offset is to me. much appreciated

 

Backspacing in if you took a strait edge and laid it on the back of the rim then measured to the the lug holes. Hopefully this makes any sense. Its how far the wheel will stick out.

 

The easiest way to explain back space is the distance from the inboard wheel lip to the wheel mounting surface. The straight edge across the back( inboard ) of the rim to the wheel mounting area. Offset is the measurement from the center line of the wheels rim to the wheel mounting surface. Offset can either be positive or negative.

 

those tires and wheels will work great. stock backspacing (depending on wheels), is 4.75-5". so the 3.31BS with an extra 1" wheel width (asuming your stock rims are 15x7) will make them stick out about 2.5-3" beond your stock rims, plus what ever the tire adds past that. should look good, and keep your tires away from inner fender well, frame. suspension etc... you may want to look into some wider fender flares(depending on your local laws.) drop some pics on here when you get em on.

 

 

 

Unless you are getting them for cheap. Do not waste your time with the BFG AT's there are by far better tires out there for the money. Bridgestone Dueler AT (REVO2, 693, 695), Dayton Timberline AT, Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac or MT/R Kevlar, Yokohama Geolander AT-S.

 

I've wheeled with guys running the BFG ATs and they do really good for a All Terrain tire. I've never ran ATs on a wheeling rig just my tow vehicle, but if I decided to run an AT, so far the BFG would be my pick.

 

i have those rims on mine they stick out farther than stock but are sick looking i got 30X9.50 on em

 

Are those fully covered by the stock fenders?

 

go with the BFGs. You will be surprised. They work extremely well.
