Default Axle swap

I'm about to buy some 1 tons out of a 99 F350 and swap them into my XJ. I've noticed the last two COTM winners have leafs up front and the axles I'm getting are already set up this way. I know I would have to move the perches in a bit, but I believe leaving it leaf would be easier. Am I wrong? And can I get a decent ride and flex out of leafs in the front? I know I won't get as much as coils, but how much less do you think? I'm looking at around 8 inches of lift and 37's when I'm finished.

It's all in how you set up your leafs. The longer they, are as well as proper shackle angle will give you some impresive flex! Obviously the body will need to be majorly reinforced to hold the weight of the jeep/motor on the leafs, & the perches will need to be replaced (the f350 perch won't be used). I would be looking into a 3 link long arm kit, & coil perches w/lca mounts. It will be a lot easier than trying to dial in a leaf setup!

Yeah you're probably right. I will have just as much measuring and fab work to do with a leaf set up, if not more, than I would just converting it to coils. Dumb question on my part, but thanks for your time.

The only dumb question is the one you neglect to ask! When you start building this beast start up a build thread!

Check out this thread. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f33/pr...l-width-40201/. This is a write up from a guy I know who put full width axles and front leafs on his cherokee. It flexes and rides great if you do it right, although he now has the rear 3-linked.
