axle question
ok i have a few questions.1st how much stronger is the 8.25 29 spline then the 27 spline .i have a 27 spline in my jeep now and picked up a 29 spline for free but the spider gears where welded and they blew up ,has a hole in the cover but no big deal . now the ring and pinion gears look good just got a bit of rust on them .gears spin freely so i think everything is all good.now i wanting to put a locker in the rear so im think of putting it in the 29 spline axle and swapping axles and maybe re gear it .that my next question ,my jeep is my dd and its lifted 4 inch on 33 . i was think 410 but maybe 456 but i do alot of highway driving to get the the 4x4 places .
any advice would be great

4.10s and 33s is like running stock gears on stock tires. The 29 is said to be comparable to the D44 in strength (even though mine grinds). Clean that thing up and see if you can reweld those spider gears. I not, stick the axles in your rear end and order a locker for a 97+ xj

That's what I would do just make sure it isn't the ultra rare 4 banger with the towing package that has 4.56 gears. You'd have to get a locker unless you found some spider gears from a 29 spline since the side gears are what makes up the difference from a 27 to a 29 spline. Spend $430 and you can get a powertrax which works exactly like an Aussie but is much more street friendly. I had a lockrite, broke it twice, trashed it and got a powertrax no-slip
