Default axle options

Has any one used a front axle from something like a 97ih ram 1500? cause my local bone yard is full of em.

Best front axle is from a ford, they have selectable hubs and drivers side diff. Dodge has unit bearings and cad like early xj Dana 30's. Chevy is passenger diff so that's no good

Avoid the 78-79 versions. They have cast wedges and you have to run ford radius arms. Which isn't that bad of a thing but there is no tube under the wedge which makes them weak.

but you can do things while building the arms to make them pretty strong. but over all getting the f250 hp 44 is the better route.
the dodge fronts also have ball joint issues

If you want close to stock width 1980 jeep wagoneer dana 44 but its a low pinion and 6 lug.If you want full width ford dana 60 and a gm 14 bolt rear are a hard combo to beat.
