I've read and read and am still having trouble finding out specifically which pilot bearing I need and locating it.
I'm putting an AX-15 / 231 out of a '94 XJ in a 2wd '88 5 speed MJ with the renix 4.0
I've read I can use some PB77HD, or a 53009180AB, or one out of a 70's CJ7 with a 304. Napa doesnt show anything for the PB77HD or a CJ7 bearing. They told me the dimensions for the other number, and it seems too big.
If anyone has done this swap and could tell me excatly what I need I would really appreciate it!

what i did in my 88 with a 93 motor it it, is a measure the outside diameter of the the bearing i needed and the diameter of the input shaft, and had a bushing instead of a bearing used for it.

i belive the older engines have a smaller hole in the crank for the bearing to go into, and the AX15 tranny has a bigger input shaft tip. so you could proboby just get a bushing for your year modle, and have it bored out to the AX 15 input shaft size

Are you talking about the one in the bell housing, like when you are replacing a clutch and pressure plate? That one up there should be easy to get, when I replaced my clutch and pressure plate, it came with one. Or you can take the old one out and bring it in. If you ask the guy at the auto store for one, he should be able to tell you that right away.
If that's not the one you are talking about, my apologies, but thats the only pilot bearing I have ever dealt with, and they are easy and fairly cheap (easy if you are replacing the clutch and pressure plate)
