Me personally bought a 2000XJ with a blown AW4, and ending it up swapping an AX-15 from a 92, not the one I want (internal slave) but the one I was able to get for cheap.

New master clutch cylinder, new slave and lines, get used pedal asembly, new clutch and hands on

Couple of days later I was driving the XJ without any issue!

Did not worry about the gear ratio, it feels good and drives awesome, no need to worry, also I swapped the speedo gear from the old TC to the new one, so speed reading is as good as it used to be with the old tranny
Question, i just bought a ax15 out of a 90 mj and not exactly sure what to do to convert my 99 and have everything work, since you did the swap could you give me some insight?

I will be glad, what will be the specifics?
not sure if you need insight with the electric part for the NSS to allow you to start the XJ, or the Reverse light to work, or with the swap itself?

please let me know

Basically the swap itself, ive been doing alot of research and it has me all confused, so many things telling me five different things.. Remember thr 90 ax15 is going into a 99xj, so i need to know for sure if i need a new computer, and other things.. I want this to look like it came with the trans stock with no check engine lights, and every thing to work as it should.. I know about the pilot bushing, the nss, flywheel, clutch pedals and so on. I just need to.know the specifics to make.it look and feel like it came from the factory this way..

Well, my CEL is on, it gives codes for the Transmission, if you don't want the CEL on then you will need to get an ECU from a manual transmission.

Everything from the manual will bolt on, the only modification I think I had to do was to drill the holes for the Clutch Master cylinder to be bolted in, not the big one for the cylinder itself, just the two small ones for the screws.

Make sure you have everything from the manual, even the cover for the shifter stick, and also make sure that you get the appropiate shaft in between your tranny and the diff (I had to go back to the junkyard a couple of times to get the right one)

For the NSS and Reverse light the tranny connector, near the back of the cylinder head will need to be wired in. Reverse light will need to be extended to the manual tranny sensor, and the NSS in my case the wires are connected permanently.

As stated above, my 2000 is running with the Automatic computer, the only downside is the permanent CEL, I just plug a small code reader once a week to make sure there are no other codes stored, I have also read somewhere that there is a way around to make the computer think it has the solenoids, measuring the resistance in one of them and trying to simulate the same on the tranny connector with small resistors, have not done that and cannot validate if it works or not.

please reply with any specific, I will try to help you!

I believe the only way not to get a CEL is to use an ECU from a manual, I also unplugged the TCU when I did mine. It has yet to throw any codes. Also I had to drill all three holes for the master/slave, but there are dimples in the firewall that show you where to drill. There's a pic or two in my build thread of how I wired in my reverse lights if you need help with that. I read somewhere that I would need to swap the CPS from my manual, so I did that as well, however I'm not sure if that was necessary. From my understanding the only differences between the early and late model AX15's are the output shaft spline count and the internal vs external slave. If you want it to look factory just make sure to get your trans tunnel cover plate, and both shift boots (one attached to the shifter, the other from the center console).
