Default Audio theft prevention

Hey everyone, I have had someone break into my ford ranger, and steal my head unit, but did about $500 worth of damage, before. I just ordered a new head unit, and subs for my Jeep Cherokee. What do you guys suggest to keep people from stealing it? I keep my doors off 90 percent of the time...

My jeep is rhino lined inside, so I was thinking about bolting the sub enclosure on the ground, is their a better way to do this? Any Idea's are welcome, thanks for all your input guys.

Haha that's awesome.

Yeah... That's tricky with you being doorless and all. I will never lose the doors unless I have a place in my future garage for my XJ for the reason of theft alone

I guess the upside of not having doors is you don't need to replace windows or locks when they steal your stuff.

1.Removing your faceplate and keeping it with you.
2. as far as the subs go... unless you mount one behind the cubby hole and drill holes in the plastic so the sub is not visible and not easily accessible, it's pretty much gone if you don't have doors.

without doors, you're only inviting them in.

you could always get one of these.

Do what wrangler guys do, Buy a lockable console.

I had mine broken into in the ghetto, they couldn't figure out how to remove the head unit because it was bolted to the dash lol. they even ripped the cover under the face plate off trying to remove it and the screw driver was on the floor. lol One theft was shot by the police and the other gave up

i agree with removing the faceplate. and as far the subs, cover it with crap so it looks junky, I tend to keep my car unlocked and windows down almost all the time, and I just cover stuff up with crap, and nothings been stolen yet.

haha thanks for the ideas, wouldn't the camera get stolen too?

I'm thinking, out of sight out of mind. This being said, couldn't I do some fabrications and build something to put over my sub enclosure so people cant see it? like a shelf on-top of the enclosure then attach a sheet or something to hangover so people can't see it.

Anyone else made one of these?

i was thinking about building a cage around my sub, for protection and for prevention, but if you want to keep it looking clean pop out the sub and mount the box to the jeep, from the inside of the box, i dont know how yet, but its just an idea, also id be funny to watch someone try and steal it...

I was thinking the exact same thing. but couldn't they still steal the actual subs and leave the enclosure?

Couple thoughts...
As for hiding your subs: they sell metal cargo covers. Or a piece of plywood... Using stuff to cover it would work, but less secure..

Mounting your subs/amp: non-reversible screws. They go in, they don't come out. Or, if you don't want to use "permanent" screws, really long roofing screws with the built in rubber gasket works well. They are a bolt head, not screwdriver friendly, and with hand tools will take a long time to remove 8 (or however many you use..) BE CAREFUL when bolting to the floor, obviously you don't want to drill into the gas tank. If you built a cage or frame for the sub box that would be the most effective. If you bolt from the bottom the box, use a couple closer to the outer edge with a big washer. The subs are more valuable than the box (generally) so the box may be ripped off the floor just so they can get the subs. So def make sure to really make it feel solid!
