I would say just keep it in sight. If someone wants to steal something out of a doorless jeep they are gonna do it if no one is looking whether you put metal bars over it or not. They don't care if they damage the whole side of the car to pull that thing out.

I had mine broken into in the ghetto, they couldn't figure out how to remove the head unit because it was bolted to the dash lol. they even ripped the cover under the face plate off trying to remove it and the screw driver was on the floor. lol One theft was shot by the police and the other gave up
The cops shot someone because they attempted to steal your radio? Ok.

No, these two guys where breaking and entering, armed robberies and breaking into cars right around finals time so alot of people began moving out. Police caught up to them and guess there was a shoot out after they crashed their car. Not uncommon for Flint and not uncommon to hear multiple shooting a night from your porch. I guess the location would help, if you know about Flint.

Actually alot of us will leave our doors unlocked and remove the face plate because replacing a window or door sucks. Best not to leave anything in there that they might want. A friend has a 21" sub in the back of his XJ but the windows are so tinted you cant see it and the policy is dont bump near the house cause it will draw the crackheads from the apartment complex a block away looking for easy cash.

Adam Carolla tells a story of when he was a broke carpenter he got a new tape deck for his POS Datsun pickup, before he installed it he spray painted the face of it an ugly brown just to keep it from getting stolen. That truck was stolen three times, but the stereo was never taken. He always found the truck a few blocks from his apartment because he had a fuel shut switch hidden someplace, once the carb ran dry the truck would just die, leaving the thief on foot.

Hmm looks like this is what im going to do.

Bolt the box down, use square screws to screw the woofers in place then glue over them, and use black caulk around the woofers so they can't be pried out. Put a piece of fabric with a rod on the bottom so when im not using them I drop the rod and it covers them up looking like a box. Put the amp under the rear seat. And tint out all my windows.

Do they make any fake faceplate covers for kenwood?

My box and subs weigh something close to 100-150 pounds together. IMO if they are willing to lug that thing out of the hatch, over the back seat, and between the front seats to get out the door (2 door) then they can have it. Even tho i doubt you could even get it through there, box is pretty freakin big. Just keep the hatch locked, it'll make taking anything from the hatch a ***** if its a 2 door
