I was looking to relocate the spare tire and gain a little extra cargo space, plus I have always thought those wire basket type roof racks looked cool so I found this inexpensive Arksen rack (sticker on the front says Bison).
It was $135 delivered from some reseller on Amazon (not Prime but got here fast nonetheless). Obviously it is not a heavy duty piece of gear but it looks like it will get the job done.
In the below pics the spare tire is just sitting up there; I still need to rig up some hardware. I thought the rack size was good for the Cherokee, and even with the spare up there, there is still room for a decent size travel bag. The hardware to attach it to the stock roof rails worked well also.

Tire in roof rack not bad idea if smaller tires and low to stock height in good weather. Buy wait till your in mud, snow, ice trying to fight with it up and down not so good.....Been there done that and the wife hated it
