I was walking around in my local auto parts store, and saw these. I know that this isnt the ideal way to do a lift, but has anyone used them? Been thinking about getting some.

 

you probably won't be happy with them, i had those on a fullsize truck and the ride was god awful, felt like no suspension in the back at all. Check out the oem tech page and you will see junkyard fixes for things, one of them is there is a junkyard lift kit, it works well

 

just alittle 2" block lift it looks like. have to get coil spacers up front or else you wont be level. if u want a small 2" lift u can go with a budget boost. if want bigger check out the junkyard parts list that will fit on xj

When considering on lifting my XJ I test drove one that used the blocks like what your showing there. They worked great if your goal is to have a Jeep that looks a little taller. If you actually would like to drive the Jeep I would consider the JY list as a more reasonable means of lifting the Jeep.

 

thanks guys. I already have a 2" lift, that I got for free. While I do like it better than stock, it really just isnt enough. I have been toying around the idea of the jy setup, but I saw these and it got me to thinking.

 

Yeah those little crappy aluminum blocks crack under normal driving.. Order some solid blocks if your gonna use blocks, Rockyroad sells solid steel ones, thats what ive got under mine. But personally, if your just wanting like 2" then get shackles. Only thing really good from that kit is the U-bolts, and thats just because they're cheap. Had one strip on me when i put the lift on, but autozone replaced the whole kit with ease. So blocks no U-bolts yes

 

Blocks are gay, Its really easy to get lift from bastard packs, shackles, or shackle relocation boxes.

 

I have 2" lift shackles in the rear now as well as a 2" coil spacer up front. But I'm just going to go with the JY setup

 

Jus got the 2inch blocks about a month ago for the price they r okay u have to grind one of the little nubbs off of one side of the block for a proper fit on a xj tho ... The ride is kinda ruff .. But thats with all lift blocks .. Also the u bolts r cheap( i stripped one of them during instal wen it wasnt even close to the 52 ft lbs torque specs) .. I jus re threaded it .. I cant complain for only spending 30 buks on them ..

 

they work cast blocks are better...

 

I have the 1" blocks in mine to level out the back since adding the tire carrier but I have steel ones from Rustys. Same price, just had to pay for shipping.
