Wait you gapped it smaller than recommend? That's why it didn't work as well I would imagine smaller spar vs larger and just as hot, more surface area better combustion

i don't know what you're talking about, but here's a fact.
forty four thousands 0.044 gap works well
fifty five thousands 0.055 gap does not work well
at recommended sixty five thousands 0.065 gap it will neither run right nor idle right

I am running the kit as well. I did my kit when I rebuilt my engine so I really can't say if there was a diff. or not. If there was it wasn't much. I bought it because It was a clean kit and I thought it looked good. The best thing Ive done for my idle quality was replace the o2 sensor.

I run the kit (cap, rotor, wires, coil) with Bosch platinums. I set the gap to .065 as recommended by Performance Distributors. I never did any fuel mileage figures and didn't notice any power differences, neither good nor bad. But it did idle much better, my jeep use to kinda shudder at idle and since this kit it idles as smooth as glass. I also like the way it looks. So, i would recommend it but i'm sure there is other kits/parts that would do just as good and be easier on the wallet.

Every jeep is different, there as to many variables to say if it is the plugs or not,
Head condition, injectors, mods, exhaust, cat, I mean the list goes on and on haha,
but finding what run for your jeep is what matters being a gap of 65/55/45/35, I think in a excellent condition motor the screaming demon may be worth it, I know my Accel kit ( usuing gay xcel ones didn't want to wait for the bosch ones fixing that tomorrow ) and e3 plugs it runs amazing and you can't even feel it idle if it wasn't for my exhaust, also on a side note I use lubro moly witch is not the usual snake oil and works amazing! Haha
