A while back I installed a BB 2 inch lift from Rough country on my 01. Well then I realized my rear leafs were shot. So last week I got the heavy duty springs from General Spring in Kansas city. These springs are stock configuration for the heavy duty type 745lbs. So by adding those springs I gained 4 inches of lift compared to the old springs. I am going to move the springs to the top hole so I will have only gained 3-3.5 inches. So now I do have a little vibration on acceleration, it is fine going down the road. So yes I know people will say I need a slip yoke eliminator or shims at least. My question is this, what damage does the vibration do. Thanks.

Yeah he's probably talking about the shackles. The vibrations are going to wear the ujoints faster and idk if it will wear anything else really bad. I'd let the springs settle though before I bought a sye or anything.

Yes the shackles that came with the lift have two holes you can bolt the springs to. Origianlly I put them in the bottom hole or the hole that gives the most lift.
Thanks for the replys.

Get some leaf spring perch spacers/washer and correct the pinion angle I did a 4" lift on my jeep with oem leafs longer shackles with a relocation bracket and just corrected the pinion angle and have no problems at all without a sye.

Like Jeepxj1244 said let the new leaf springs settle before you buy anything. They won't settle to much since you said you purchased the heavy duty ones. But they will settle a little.

Thanks for the replys, so now what shims should a person get, aluminum or steel. I understand the aluminum sometimes break, but what causes it. Our XJ is mostly a DD, we only wheel once or twice a year. Just curious what other people are running and what issues if any people are having. Thanks
