Another lift question!
Okay guys I know this topic is heavily beaten but I want to install a 3" lift kit on my 2001 XJ and was thinking about going with the Rough Country SERIES 2 kit. Keep in mind I'm looking to save as much money as I can while buying a lift. If there are any other brands of 3" lift that are just as good but cheaper please fill me in.
Here is a link to the kit I was considering on getting.
http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep-sus...-kit-630x.html
Now I see the kit comes with full leaf packs, front coil spring, new LCA's, Sway Bar Brackets, U bolts, plus hardware for all. My REAL question is what else do I need outside of what the kit offers? Do I need extended brake lines, T-case drop, SYE? What do I do as far as gearing goes? Any other tips, clues, or knowledge is going to be greatly appreciated! Again, trying to save money but want to have a decent setup.
Please keep in mind I do very little to no offroading.... this jeep is my DD.
Thank you,
CW

First off if you do not wheel you are going to ruin your jeep just to look cool. A well paid engineer already designed this vehicle with street manners in mind. That being said, the cheapest way would be to just do coils up front and leaf springs in the back. From what I hear AAL's don't last and 3" blocks are creepy. Re drill your trac bar hole. flex lines should be fine, and only do a t-case drop if you have vibes. Stock JK shocks can be found as take offs for cheap money and will bolt in. Good luck getting look your after. I'm on board with all types or vehicle modification, just have a little bit of a hard time with the mall crawling thing but to each his own

A much better quality kit made in NA can be bought from Rustys a 3" full leaf/coil package with shocks and hardware for $438 as with any kit you will an adj track bar. Usually for a 3" lift a TC drop kit will do of for it the stock arms will work with the proper wheels for a 15" it would be a 15x8" with 3.75" of BS to clear up to a 33x12:50x15 with trimming. I ran that size on a 3" Rustys lift with that combo.
As for gears that all depends what size tire you plan on with a 31" a 4.10 gear, for a 33" 4.56 gear. If you plan on lockers then try to do it at the same time no extra labor involved.

Zone offroad sells a pretty good kit also I've heard that they use BDS coils and their leaf packs may be from rough country I'm not sure. Look in the vendor section there's a member here that can quote you a good price on one of their lifts. Usually less than retail including shipping. I like rustys and iro but the shipping charges are killer.
