You won't know till you lift it but more than likely you will not need anything.

A t-case drop is not and will never be a fix. It is cheap and easy to put in yes but it throws many other angles off. I have a 1" drop installed on my xj and am planning on doing a sye soon, not because I have vibes but because my motor mounts are now shot, and I replace u-joints every 6 months. As I have stated from the beginning a t-case drop is nothing more than a band-aid, and I know there are folks out there that will argue with me about it.

I am not in favor of TC drops simply stating that with 2" he will almost certainly not need to do anything as far as vibes go. Shims for the rear axle would be the way to go first since they have no negative affects on the other components of the vehicle as you stated. I also plan on doing a SYE setup when money permits but for now the TC drop will have to do. Worst case scenario which is highly unlikely he could run a TC drop until money permitted the install of a SYE.

I wasn't saying you were gonna argue, but there are some on here that will. I'm just trying to share with the OP my experience on why t-case drops are the best solution. I do agree with you though, at 2" the likelihood of the OP needing a t-case drop or sye is slim to none, but it does happen.

Side note: I'm not much for arguing online. Usually I just stop posting, because it is pointless to clutter a thread up with bickering. It really doesn't help anyone out.

Oh I know you weren't trying to argue and I didn't mean it like that there was nothing abrasive about either of our posts and I'm glad u chimed in since you have more experince than I do in the XJ community. You are 100% right on the SYE being the way to go if needed. BTW Any preference on SYE kits?

Not really, I'll probably just do a hack and tap when I get around to doing mine. Or whatever is on sale

kinda leaning toward the IRO setup myself relatively cheap with a new stock front driveshaft. And to the OP, I have seen people with no lift who have vibes and some at 2" with vibes. The only way you are going to know is to do the lift and see what happens. I can't guarantee anything but I will tell you that odds are in your favor that you will not need any SYE etc.

I was thinking about running a factory front shaft but I have read mixed reviews about whether or not they work on xj's with manual transmissions. Something about the shaft length, but then I lost interest haha.

I don't have any experience with the manual trans the only thing I have heard is that it is not as strong as the aftermarket shafts if you really wheel hard.
