Another Lift Question (2")
Hey guys I'm considering doing a lift kit really soon. I don't want to go big just want a little more than stock, so I've been looking at 2" and BB lifts... my rig has 199k miles on it so I want to replace, control arm bushings & stabilizer bar bushings at the same time as well as new shocks.... It drives great right now despite the clunking from the worn bushings.
So this is what I've been looking at..
Rusty's 2" Add-a-Leaf kit. I like this one because it comes with new front springs and an add-a-leaf.. mine are sagging a little right now. It sits about 1" lower in the back. But- I've read that the add-a-leaf might cause for a very stiff, crappy ride????

Rough Country 1.5" Suspension I'm considering this because it has the shocks, but just coil spacers, and the spring hangers..

With so many options to choose from I'm sorta overwhelmed. What do you guys think? I know I don't want anything over a 2". That being said I don't want to spend a too much $$$ but I'd rather go with quality if it means paying a little more... I know there tons BB's out there I've even seen them on Ebay.. What are your opinions?? Thanks!! Here's a pic of my Rig.

Pretty much all bb's are the same. For 2" coil spring spacers, and aal, or shackles is all you will need. I would stay away from blocks, but that's just me. My question is that you mentioned you want to replace the control arms, why is this? And if you do want to replace the control arms you may want to look into a 3" kit that comes with control arms. That will more than likely be cheaper than buying new factory arms, but I'm not sure why you want to replace yours.

I'm thinking about doing a 2" rocky road shackle and coil spacer kit for my daily driver, along with the bar pin eliminators so that I can use my existing new monroe shocks. I should be able to reuse most of the stuff after I wear out my tires and shocks if want to go higher later. The kit I'm looking at is $139 http://www.rocky-road.com/xjbudget.html

If your going to wheel it at all with your new lift I would recommend longer shocks, probably 3" lift shocks. I have blown out every one on my XJ cuz they aren't long enough at full flex and they overextended.

You think I'll need a SYE with a 2" lift? I'm not doing any serious wheeling..

Just get some daystar 2" spacers for the front and maybe some Rough Country extended shackles for the rear. Your ride quality will not deteriorate since you are still using the stock front springs and rear leafs you will just be 2" taller. It should only cost you $80 to $100 bucks using name brand quality stuff. Invest your money in some good quality shocks they IMO change the ride quality quite a bit.

No you should not need a SYE with 2" lift. At very worst you could get a $20 TC drop kit to solve your problem or some axle shims. Shouldn't be an issue though that is not much lift at all. I have 4.5" of lift on my 98 and I am dead nuts on with front and rear pinion angle matching to the exact tenth of a degree with the TC drop that came with the kit.
