another civic coilover sleeve tryout
I did the civic coilover sleeves just to try them, went and did some hard flexin and wheelin with the newest heap and they are still rocking out. coilover sleeves, stock springs, worn out ranchos with lug nuts to space shock up...and 3in blocks (till I hit pull a part for some s10 bastard packs) and bilstein shocks I found in the garage off I dont know what

Just got on craigslist and got a whole set for $20, with springs. Not a bad piece, seems stronger than most sleeves i've seen/used on hondas before. Has a lock bolt to keep the spanner nut still. I'm wondering why more people dont do it. You could easily make up for running a heavy winch bumper, just adjust it

I wouldn't trust them on my XJ I can see that lock bolt that is probably made in china snap, The collar would slide up causing the Jeep to shift while causing a major accident. JKS ACOS's seat around the spring much better they are the only spacer that I would ever run.

I'm interested in seeing more pics of the setup, like down on the spring perch. Is the rig a DD or trail only? This honestly doesnt seem safe to me. You've wheeled with success already, but I guess time will tell on reliability/longevity. Civic coil overs are meant for civics, light and compact cars, not 3500 lb Jeeps. They have also been copied and copied so much now that they can be had for $20 new. Even when I had a civic I wondered about the quality of a $20 suspension system lol.
I'm not trying to bash you at all cuz thats auto customizing at its core what youre doing, just questioning out loud.

I know where your coming from guys, but i've gone through a lot of looking at all the ones for about 6 months and these ones fit the best and are the thickest, I wish I knew which ones they were by name. The spring fits perfect on it, and these things are not light junk, the sleeve is thick, so thick it barely fits up in there, there is no slop.
I'm not worried about the spanner nut loosening or falling down, that "lock" bolt is just to keep it still, even with no bolt it barely moves. This is just a toy, I drive it occasionally though, and i'm not scared of it, i'm more worried about the lift blocks and worn out leafs. I'm going to beat on these until they break, i'll keep it updated if I finally break them.
I'm not on the offensive, i just think if you find a decent way to mess with our jeeps on the cheap, it dont hurt to try... for all I know it will split tomorrow, and you can say I told ya so!. It has me thinking why not build one of these type deals out of steel, non adjustable, a piece of round tubing with a perch for the spring would do the same thing and never break...but then again you can buy spacers for nothing these days.
