Cheap aftermarket aluminum heads for 4.0s ain't gonna be found. LOL. 4.0s are somewhat popular but they're not small block Chevies by a long shot.

Thanks for all of the response guys!! Yeah, that is kind of pricey!!

Here are a couple more questions:

1) Does anyone run the Hesco 4.0L head on their Jeep?

2) anyone heard any negitives about the Hesco head, other than the price.

3) If another company was going to Mfg. an aluminum head for the 4.0L what would you like to see done differently?

4) Are there any other engine upgrade products that you would like to see available for the 4.0L?

My reason for asking is because there is another company looking into designing an aluminum head for the 4.0L and would like to get input from real Jeep people.

Thanks
Dennis

more flow is always good, lol. But lower compression for the stroker builds.

Thanks Donnie!

I guess nobody else here is interested in a better performing, less expensive, smog legal aluminum head (for the 4.0L) than the Hesco aluminum head. Wondering if this is just a price thing (performance potential of the 4.0L not worth the cost) or ?

I would be interested..I'm sure there would be more interest if you could produce one that would gain horsepower and keep the cost down. Its hard to justify the cost of rebuilding one compaired to buying new. With that said I'm sure if the head cost around $1k you might have something..Just my thoughts

AMXJ
. at 2k its pricy but looks well worth it on a stroker adding an additional 30+hp.
Fun bit of reading
Cheers

Thanks SCXJ8!! Do you know if it is possible to get a copy of this article or magazine? Or maybe any followup articles maybe?

Thanks for this!

Seems to be a major lack of interest in the Jeep comunity on the possiblity of a new upgrade cylinder head for the 4.0L. Potential for sales is what R&D looks at when going in to a new project, and this looks like a very low sales potential. The thinking is this might not be worth the design time and tooling expense.

Now is the time to speak up if you would like to see an aluminum cylinder head (for the 4.0L) manufactured by one of the largest companies in the performance aftermarket industry.

I would love to find a brodix or dart head for our 4.0! lol. What company are we talking about? I think every single person on this forum would love to see an upgrade head for the 4.0. Now being able to afford it, and not being intimidated by changing a head for the first time is another story.
