alternator swap woes
so i swapped a GC alternator in my 88 xj with a vr101 regulator just like the write up and barely charges 13v. so i bought a ford regulator f540 and it was charging 14.4 constantly and working just fine and one day it started charging around 12v, later that day 16v+. and sometimes 14v. so i assumed it was shot and i bought a dodge regulator r296z and its overcharging as well. i have it hooked up as the write ups say and have this problem. anybody with any input?

I'm no expert at electrical at all so I'm just guessing. Did you upgrade your wiring when upgrading the parts? You should look into 5-90's site for his wire kits. I wanna upgrade my wiring one day to handle more power.
