I race my xj. I'm thinking I can get a notable horsepower gain by removing my alternator. Keep in my the only thing I need my alternator for is my full time fan cause everything else is stripped that's electric. Any ideas or comments?

Any power you may free up by removing the alternator, you'll lose again by having less voltage going to the ignition and habit a weaker spark because of it. I'm on a Grand Stock circle track team that races at Langley Speedway in Hampton, VA, many racers at this track will say one way is better then the other. We put it to the test one day on a Dyno, same car, same day, same Dyno there was less then a 1hp difference between the average of 3 runs with the alternator and 3 runs without it. It was less then 1hp better with the alternator, the difference for us at least is after 30-40 laps the voltage will have dropped lower then it was on the dyno causing the ignition to be weaker by the end of the race thus having less HP, with an alternator it will be much more constant.
Edit: should also point out our car is a 305 with HEI ignition, so the Jeep may react slightly different to the voltage thing.
