Google it. Not much difference between a "high flow" cat and a quality replacement. As stated earlier old cats used pellets in them and were very restrictive. New cats with that honeycomb design flow nicely. Free flowing exhaust is part of fuel economy and efficiency. Thus has become important to the oems. Seems like aftermarket exhaust gets less and less gain as cars evolve. Oems are finding ways to be more efficient.

true and true..at least most oems are doing what they can to improve the bottom line ...

side note nxt question how does the magnaflow compare to the flowmaster 44 sound wise i want a loud and deep muffler isnt the maganaflow kind of dosey and mellow not agressive and mean and deep.....(wish i didnt have a broad knowlage of flows. and had a more rounded knowlage base)

I don't believe magnaflow is chambered so it would be deeper and less raspy. I still want someone to get a spin tech. I'll post sound clips in a month or so. Everyone's gonna want one.

Wish I had the sound clips of my mustang that I used to. I could get more but my mustangs at my parents place out of town. They sound amazing! They have a nice deep sound that gets throaty when you rev it. Very smooth though I don't know how to describe it. Mustang sounds something like a NASCAR. They're loud at full throttle but quiet when cruising. I don't have any interior resonance either. I'll be picking one up along with a new cat in a couple weeks.

yes im not doubting you its a nice muffler but my friend it seams like those are for old mussle cars and the modern day mussle cars...i saw one xj that had the sportman xl muffler from spin tec on youube seams very soomth cant saythat about flowmaster...but it also seams better off suted for mussle cars...i dont think i really hit over 3000rpms unless im banging off a stop light..dosent seam like the type of muffler that belongs on a jeep.....but my friend i have never heard one on a jeep in person soo i dont have to much argument...i guess its bc that muffler is not well known to the jeep world.

I didnt mean any disrespect or anything here. And to OP Im sorry about talking about running without a cat, I dont want to get the topic in trouble. I appreciate you Gee for taking the time to put some myths to rest. This should, as you infer, stop the threads and comments about XJ's being louder more performance gain from running illegally without a cat.

I was just saying... and yeah I apologize for going off topic, that while it may not make a difference here in out community's application it can elsewhere. Now my engine was running high compression on a little 120HP 4banger, which could make the difference as well, every application is different.

Again my intentions werent to stir up anything here and again thanks for taking your own personal time to test out some theories.
