all muffler and exhaust questions go here!!!!!!
so to change the subject a tad. how the hell do you know if the kitty is workin or not, plugged up or not?? ya, dont go in the gutter guys.. LOL seriously though, bought a jeep from a city feller who drove it around town mostly.... a long road trip now and then. when I step on it on the freeway it feels like its tryin real hard to push out the exhaust. otherwise it seems fine. thinkin at higher rpm and whatnot it wont flow right. so lookin for opinions. thanks.
Is the cat red?
Egg smell by tail pipe?
I didn't have any of this, and all 3x with three of my jeeps the cat was bad. If you have over 120k, just replace it if your worried. Their only $60

aight gguys. i have a question for ya. last weekend on my birthday and the day i got laid off. My jeep cut out on me. started it back up and it shot out the black plume o death smoke out the exhaust... any ideas?
This will sound crazy but I cut out my muffler and drive it for a few days and my oil pressure increased I just put on a glasspack and it decreased? Am I imagining things or does the increased exhaust flow increase oil pressure?

none of the above with mine, exhaust flows. just feels like under accel something is holding the jeep back like the exhaust, sounds like it struggles a bit. may be normal I dont know. but thanks for the info. might do a cat just because. but hate wasting money

Cut the cat off and weld in a straight pipe, if that fixes the problem put on a new cat, if not weld the old one back on. worst case scenario you are out 10 bucks and an hour of work

On my 96' 4.0 I have one in the dowpipe just after the header, and in just behind the cat welded in. Im almost positive that is factory too.
While im here... I need ideas of which high flow cat to get. I want it to be 2.5'', and stainless.
