Find used parts on cl. You won't get a 4 inch lift done half way right for under about 700 new.

4" coil, $100-150
Wj rear lowers, $10-30 (at jy)

Then if/when you have driveline vibes a sye or a transfer case drop

And last but not least a adj track bar
So that's about $300-400

You said cheap. Cheap rides rough. You'll still need some parts.

 

JK shocks are no good at 4" without BPEs 'extending' the shock length. I maxed out two of mine at 3" with factory mounts.

 

True but rear sway bar ends fix that quick

Lol, brain fart, I didn't think about the jy route, I know the lift ****. You know that. And I have no idea what movie that's from.

 

Yessir, I spend most of my free time here or working on the Jeep, from the time I get off work to when I go to bed. It's a minor obsession.

and would he have to have new lower control arms or can he use stock

 

I pieced mine together over 6 months, using Craigslist and several forums.

Rubicon Express (good brand) leaf springs
Skyjacker (not as good) coils
JK Wrangler 4dr Rubicon shocks
"Dukie's Discos" sway bar disconnects
5 33x12.5 Goodyear Duratracs
5 15x10 steel wheels

And a new Iron Rock Offroad double sheer adjustable track bar.

I paid less than $1k including tires for my 3" lift.

Anyway, he'll need lower arms, and he should also replace uppers at that height, but it's on the edge of mandatory.
