thanks swirlchaser, front end is looking good. now for the rear. Anyone have any clue how to get the metal bit into the bushing? i ended up accidentally ripping up the inside of the bushing trying to get that through.

I just got laid off from my career job. and rents due.... I need a vehicle. and i would love to see this XJ alive again. but if its not possible atleast another XJ will be fixed becuz of my XJs donations. I can try to get a an XJ again maybe in the future. The rears ones aren't rounded over like the fronts, a little tougher to get in. The best way to do it is to use two big sockets and some silicone lubricant. One socket should fit over the bit and hit the bushing. The larger one should fit over the bushing but hit the shock body. Put the bigger socket on the ground, lay the shock over it. Put the metal insert into the bushing first then use the smaller socket to press the whole thing in. Warning, if you slip this may cause a few scraped knuckles...

Getting new shoes for the XJ.
Have seen some really nice wheels at a fair price. I have the money to spend so my question is....
Is their any benefit to going to a larger wheel? Like from 15 inch to 16 or 17 or even higher?
Are there more tires available? is there a weight difference
I want to stay at 33"X10.5 but wheel size is optional.
