try the search function, this gets asked once a month or more.
Stock you can go up to 30x9.5x15 if you don't wheel it very hard. Do too much offroad and you will have to put your flares back on.

Next thing you are going to ask is "how much lift to put _____ on?" I'm sure there's a sticky here or go to JPmagazine.com they have a table there.

Just bought a nice 97 cherokee. i've read all 29 pages and didn't see this answered. with a 2" budget boost will i have to drop the transfer case, modify the drive shafts or axles, or anything like that, and will 31" tires fit. its my dd and its 90% highway and 10% logging roads and fields for hunting. thanks. this forum is great.

What type of BB are you looking at?? With 2" lift, TC drop is a maybe.. SYE and Drive shaft should be OK till you go 4" or more. You might be able to use shims in the axel to correct the pinion angle, if needed.

Suggest Front spacer and shackle type BB. Avoid the blocks, if you springs are saggy you could consider a full length AAL. New shock are not required but are recommended. 31" tire may need minor trimming to the plastic around the wheel well.

No, not likely to any of the mods. My 99 came with a factory Tcase drop! I have 265/75/15 (true 31 tall little narrower) on 2.5" of lift and have no issues except adjusting my steering stops a bit. Stock wheels too I wheel it and still have all my flares on. Want pics ask me. I use mine a lot like yours but I tend to get a bit messier than you. Get the tire size I gave you and you'll be fine. PS they are cheaper than 31's too!

As far as the lift go to rocklizardfabrications.com look up their budget boost in the tech section. I've done it many times. Ride is great zero sag after 4 years. Shackles will accelerate wear on your leaves. Short of new packs this is the best route. PS I used the first 2 from the xj pack and got an extra half inch! Leaf springs at the JY will be cheap. I got a set from a guy for free!

Alright, the rear leafs are looking pretty tired on my 96 Classic. If I'm going to replace them I might as well put in a lift while I'm at it, but I need some feedback... I'd like to go big enough (3.5") that I can put on 31" tires so I've been looking at the RE super-ride packages. Is that going to start getting expensive though? as far as will I have to start looking at SYE's and adjustable trackbars etc. etc.

Should I go the route of a 2" BB and use the money I save to put towards new 30" rubber instead, or alternatively can I run 31" with a bit of trimming?

The leafs are beyond revival with an add-a-leaf as far as I'm concerned, they're pretty flat.

I don't want to spend thousands but I'm happy to fork out up to $1500 or so. bear in mind I'm now in australia so everything is silly expensive over here.

1) try searching
2 here's a partial list.
SYE and or drive shaft, new brakelines all around, new TB, Realignment that's for starters.

What would be the best lift to do if i have to keep my 15' tires on for a lil while and i dont want it to affect my gas mileage too bad?

Lift has nothing to do with wheel size. Tire size, yes.

If you are sticking with stock tires then a simple 1-2" BB is more than adequate.
