How big tire wise are you going before the axle swaps?

 

Anyone ever heard of mud Max radial mudders tires?

 

Ok so what I got is 6 1/8 to the first hole and 7 1/2 to hole on the end.




If I where to use these I would net 3-4 inches right? Would that be to much?

thanks, i busted them apart today and it all looked like surface rust still....but im not confident enough to put them on yet haha there were these fabbed up looking load helpers on them that kinda flatened a section of the springs and idk if that is bad or not?

 

Hi all So I am new to the XJ world. Just traded my 82 Cherokee (FSJ) For a 01 XJ. I am looking to put a 4.5in long arm kit and 31 in tires (will probably upgrade to 33s latter. The rig is going to be your slandered DD and Weekend wheeler. My 2 part question is.

1. Do people really break the control arms and other kit parts? I mean obviously Clayton Control arms are stronger then Rough country. But is this just overkill. I was under the impression that the parts that broke where stuff like ball joints and tie-rods. not springs and control arms.

2. Is there any way (and yes i have been searching) to compare the flex on some of these kits? Some of the Mfgrs have different numbers listed. but some don't have any numbers at all. and none of them seem to use the same standered.

My xj came with a lift. The guy told me it was a 3" lift, but couldn't tell me much more than that. I am new to the 4wd scene (camaro guy), and wasn't sold on the whole "3 inch lift" claim. It was a straight, 2000 XJ Sport, 4wd, with a 108K, so I got it anyway.

So after checking it out, I found that she has the BB Teraflex 1.5" Spacers and Shackles.

With the BB and 30x9.5 BFG AT's, I measured 23" from the ground to the center-bottom of the fender flare on all four corners. I'm not even sure if thats where I am supose to measure, but it seemed logical..lol

I dont have a stock XJ to compare my measurements to, so my question is, how much lift do I actually have?

She looks quite close to stock to me. I'd say no more than 2" but probably closer to 1-1.5", IMHO.

 

Anyone see anything wrong with putting zj coils under 2 in blocks in the front for a total lift of 3 to 3.5 in? Thanks for any input.

 

You mean spacers? That's what I'll be doing.

 

Yeah I have 2in spaces now. In the back I have 3in full packs. So i thought why not put zj coils up front to even it out. I was wondering how the ride would be.

 

Ok I picked up some V8 thunder bird springs for my bastard pack lift I am working on. So the springs are a lot thicker than stock. At the base they are hanging up and I cant get them in at all. can I put a j hook through the hole where the stock spring retainer is or do you think its not safe. The base of the spring is pretty much equally distributed. Only fear I have is could they pop off when flexing? But I bought some of these J bolts and I just not sure if they will hold it in place. I was going to drill a hole at the base and put two J hooks, one I could use the hole from the stock retainer. Do you guys think this is safe?

I followed mostly these postings also i did try to grind at the base a little but no luck.
