You can add 100" tires on your rig and it wouldn't change the geometry of the suspension. It's also not required to run an SYE at 3" just lots of people recommend it. I'm on around 4" of lift and no SYE. Some guys need it, some guys don't. I also have a TC drop though. Food for thought.

Tcase drop isn't a great option though. Not only is it harder on mounts, but it lowers the lowest point of the belly an inch which is where you'll get hung up. An advantage to an SYE is the spare driveshaft I have fits front or rear so I only need one spare.

ok, so the reason I want to add the lift spacers in the front is because of the terrible new RC leaf springs. I can't stand the rake i have. RC said ic could take up to 6 months for them to settle and thats daily driven. I won't put 50 miles a month on mine.

they are STIFFFFFFFFFF. I ordered 2" list spacers for the from to level out the suspension. I currently have a TC drop on a 3" RC lift.

Want a faster way to break leafs in? Grab a couple (atleast 6) 50lb bags of sand or concrete, put in the back and let it sit for a week or two.

Kinda missed the point there. The question was whether larger tires would change the geometry of the suspension, and the answer is no it will not. To respond to your comment, I don't really care if I lose an inch on the low side, I'm still 3" higher than I was before lifting, and that's all I need to have fun.

Default Need Lift Evaluation

I’m fairly new to the forum and Jeeps overall and need some insight. I have little knowledge of lift kits and lifts in general and am wondering what the deal is with mine. I bought my 98 XJ already lifted what the seller said was 6 inches. I have no idea what kind of lift it is or if the previous owner cut any corners. I just need help on identifying what the quality of the lift is and if there are any pieces missing and what I should or shouldn’t do about it. Sorry if the pictures are too big I couldn’t resize and the link to fix it didn’t work.

While you think that the suspension geometry doesn't change and I have no proof, the driveline geometry DOES change. For some it makes the rear driveline extremely noisy and can take out universal joints. I have a 4" lift on my 99 XJ and it needed the sye on the 242 transfer case. I also don't have to worry about the fan getting into the radiator as some have had happen.

I'm curious to know how you can say the driveline geometry does change with a simple change in tire size. You're not moving anything in the suspension or driveline when you add larger tires. Literally nothing changes other than sitting a tad higher due to larger sidewalls.

Default U bolt and leaf question

So I ordered 2 crown 4886186AA leaf packs, the direct replacement for upcountry package. I installed them along with new coils up front. Im sitting at around 2 inches at three corners but the driver side rear is about at about an inch higher over stock. The lean is quite visible when looking from the rear.

i called quadratec and they are sending me a new leaf pack to see if i was in fact sent 2 different leaf packs like i think i was (one of the HD packs with a smaller free arch). My question is related to the ubolts and reinstalling the new leaf pack. Many say not to re use old u bolts but these bolts have about 200 miles on them, haven't even gotten to the first retorque interval. Are they still good to use? I have RE u bolts i ordered from quadratec when i ordered the springs.

thanks!

Default Which suspension parts to replace first

Hey all, i am about to put an iron rock offroad 3 inch complete lift on my 99 cherokee. I am also replacing wheel hubs, ball joints, and U joints. What I am wondering is what I should complete first either the lift kit or should i take apart the wheel hub and do u joints and ball joints first? Im just wondering if the suspension parts will be easier to replace with the knuckle in place. Thanks for the help in advance guys!

I would replace all the items you mentioned first, that way you can test drive it and see if anything needs to be adjusted before adding more stress on the suspension. Get everything back to the way it should be, then add your lift.

Some say yes, some say no. I personally wouldn't see a problem with removing and reusing those since they have not been through the re-torque interval.
