Because a lot of people say you don't need an SYE for 3.5" and some say you do (guess it just depends on the travel your jeep has seen). I basically just don't want to install new u joints and then determine that I also need an SYE and be out the money I just spent on the u joints
Well, here's the thing. The Rubicon Express 3.5" leaf pack is really a lot closer to 4.5". Even after settling, most have reported that their net lift was closer to 4-4.25" of lift. So it's possible that even after replacing the ujoints, you still have vibes. BUT! The typical process when faced with a mechanicall issue with a couple different possibilities is to start with the cheapest parts first. If it doesn't fix it, order an SYE and get a new driveshaft... then you can use the new u-joints as spares -or- you can use a cherokee front driveshaft and pop the u-joints into that so you don't have to worry about replacing them down the road.

I really liked the affordability of this lift. I will not break the bank and when you buy a 3 in lift kit that is what you get. The shocks leave a lot to be desired so if you have the bank roll buy an upgrade. As far as ride a lot of people say it is Rough, my thoughts are I drive a Jeep I want to feel the bumps so I think the ride is fine.

Everyone tends to ask about my Shackles they run about 100 bucks and are great for recovery you can get them here.

They're hicountry offroad. That post is about 8 years old man. They closed about a year after that post.

There are lots of shackles out there though. Ironrock offroad, Zone, Rubicon Express, Teraflex, and there's the cheaper, lower quality options like Rusty's, Rough Country, etc, etc.

The link posted was actually for the recovery shackles under the front bumper.
Same applies though since the setup was made by hi country, except there isn't any other recovery point setup available like that particular one.

My bad, I glanced over it and saw shackles.

There were a couple of companies that used to make them. No one does anymore, unfortunately. One would have to have someone fab something up.

ETA: Just found these:

They're made for 4-runners, but a comment on another forum said that the Rampage brackets have the same bolt spacing as the 4-runner mounting points... so these should work.

75 bucks though....

Someone on here is making ones that go through the bumper. Same thing you'd see on an aftermarket bumper, but it's just the D-ring mounts. If I come across it, I'll post it up.

No I think he was talking about here in the for sale section. But I haven't seen that thread in awhile so I'm not sure if they still make them.

Default 2000 Cherokee Classic Tire Size Question

I understand that the subject is beat to death, but I'm not having any luck searching within the forum. I believe I am asking in the right thread.
I have a 2000 Cherokee Classic with no lift. I cut and folded my wheel wells and need to know what is the largest at tire size I can go with. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I AM NOT PUTTING A LIFT OR B.B.(yet)
THANKS

31" tires should fit fine if you trimmed enough off. They can be fitted at stock height with large cut-out fender flares. You will need adapters or new rims with less backspacing.

Thread has been closed, I tried contacting him through PM and Email with no luck. I'm guessing interest fell off and he quit making them.

Time for some new shocks and I need some recommendations. My XJ is lifted 5.5-6 inches and currently has 265s on it but plan to go up to 33s. It's my DD and I don't need anything with crazy amounts of travel. I'm seeing most bottom line shocks for $40-50 a piece which puts me around $200 for a set. I found bilstein 5100s for $280 for all 4(seemed a little fishy). I'd like to stay around $200, or should I save up to $280 for the bilstein? Any others you'd recommend?

I have 1" wheel spacers and I've cut approx. 1" off of the fenders. I looked at some Falken Wildpeak 265/75r16 and I'm told that they are more of a 32" tire and will not fit stock height. Do you happen to know what the 31" tire size would be for this application?
