Over 3" you really should have extra shackle so that the springs can compress further. Zone 3" spring with 1.5" lift shackles should do it, or RE 3.5" springs and mess around with shackles.

As for the axle U bolts, these are torque-to-yield fasteners and stretch when tightened. Head bolts in an engine are the same and can typically be reused once.

That's not the problem. The problem is finding the right leaf springs.

I had skyjacker soft-ride leaf springs. They rode good on the street but were too soft for offroad, in my opinion.
Switched to BDS 7-leaf.
Let me know what brand and lift size of leaf springs you are after and I will find you vendors.

Thankyou, I'm looking for something that can take a hard beating.
I tow boats on a regular basis and I offroad too.

I'm looking to get atleast 2'' of lift since my original liftkit is a 2'' add-a-leaf but I won't mind if it's 2.5 inches.

I am having trouble filtering through all the info here. I Have a 1991 XJ and I am putting a 4.5" RC full suspension lift kit on it. Most likely going with 33's for tires but not set on that. Any suggestions? I am still trying to find out what other parts I will need to get.

I know I am going to need extended bump stops, but what else? Steering stabilizer? I am still not sure...

I am sorry I am asking something I am sure tons of people have asked before, but I can't seem to find the answers I am looking for on my own.

Thank you in advance to all of those that give me suggestions, I'm sure many of you have much more knowledge than I do.
