So that lift requirement picture says you need sway bar links. Does that mean just get replacement links that are appropriate for your lift or get one of those sway bar disconnect kits

going with 4.5" lift and curious what would flex better for the rear, 3.5" leaf pack with shackles and relocation brackets or 4.5" leaf pack with no lift relocation brackets?

Option one. It'll ride better, too

Extended sway bar links simply allow you to attach the front sway bar (which is highly recommended) correctly, after installing a suspension lift, and are not necessarily easily disconnectable. You always want the front sway bar connected while driving on-road.

Here's an example of fixed-length extended sway bar links in a variety of sizes:

Front sway bar disconnects do just that: they allow you to disconnect the front sway bar for greater offroad front suspension articulation, whether the vehicle is lifted or not. Generally most disconnects also act as extended links.

The disconnects I installed are also adjustable for a variety of lift heights, mine being the lowest at 3":

New to the forums so please let me know if I posted this in the wrong spot.
Also new to Jeep modification in general, so if I ask any stupid questions I am sorry.

I currently have a completely stock 01 XJ. I am looking to get a 3" or 3 1/2" lift on it. I'm currently looking at the base 3" lift kit from BDS. Any thoughts on the kit/brand?

Also, Under a 3" lift I was going to do 33" tires, however I am seeing in some places that 31" is the max. Can I get any confirmation on this?

Any other advice appreciated.

BDS is one of the nicer brands out there for XJs. 33s are possible with that size lift, will just require trimming.

I have a 97 and also want 33" tares. I would like to go 3 1/2" lift but have the law where the tares must be covered as in flares. Bought the Bushwhacker flat flares but don't think that will allow enough triming for 33s. So I'm guessing it needs to be a 4 1/2" lift right? Just think lower is better as far as getting in and out of the Jeep and lower center of gravity, not to mention gettin the vibs. Not going to be a DD but will see some time on the road especially in the winter. And the reason for wantin 33s is I think this is the smallest you can go and still get around in the woods good. Opinions will be appreciated.

Default Rear End is all over the place

Hey Guys.
I have a 98 XJ witha skyjacker 3 in loft kit budget lift shocks and springs only. The *** is all over the place. Its bouncing way too much. I am having a hard time controlling it at speed on the highway. I know a lift is gonna change the ride handling but I cannot keep her in the lane. I had it realigned and the service tech told me the rear shocks are too bouncy. Do you guys have any suggestions on a stiffer shock that will make this a little more manageable? I saw the Bilstein 5100 shocks has anyone used these? Its a very good name shock and I have them in my pick up, but I so not know anyone who has run them in a Jeep.
Any assistance will help.
Thanks

I have a 3in lift cheap one skyjacker but the 31s rub slightly w/o fender cutting. I had to cut a little bit off.

In order to fit 33s on a 3" lift you need minimal trimming. Less than one inch. 3" of lift plus flat flares should be plenty of room.
I recommend installing bumpstops so you dont damage the flares.

Describe your lift set-up better.
Full leaf packs? Blocks? Shackles?
Coils or spacers?
Miles on lift?

I run with 2.5 inches of lift and 33s. They are right you can only fit 31s on a 3 in lift IF you are not willing to cut the fenders.. I trimemed mine like crazy and could probably clear 35s on my 2.5in lift
