Im referring to the many threads on here in which folks talk about you arent going to fit 32s without cutting or useing large offsets. I used factory wheels with no scrubbing. They hit the control arms at first but it took very little bump stopping to keep it from hitting. I will probably be swapping to some wheels with a little offset in order keep turning radius as tight as possible.
Im not saying yall dont know what your talking about because Im sure you know more than I when it comes to XJs but I am saying that from what I have seen and experienced there doesnt seem to be a cut and dry one size fits all answer to the cutting and scrubbing question. Some folks say you have to and some folks say no when the real answer is you wont know till you put some tires on it and find out.
I pretty new to the XJ game and when I was shopping for the lift kit the guy at the 4x4 shop steered me away from RC. He said they were made over seas probably by child labor and had seen several customers unhappy with the ride and build quality of them. Yalls responses to my post were a little confusing. Sounded like yall were saying there was no way I was not having an issue when in fact I have not at least not yet so my bad if I misunderstood what you were saying.
Thus far I have been very pleased with the ride quality of the zone. I had crap tires on the jeep when i bought it so the factory ride may not be a good measurement to go by but with the lift and bighorns the ride quality is real nice in comparison on road and performance off road has been acceptable thus far. The biggest surprise for me is how quiet the bighorns are on pavement. Thus far they have zero roaring. Hopefully that doesnt change to much as they wear.

And the ones to just smile and wave at. Enjoy the lift. We always here to help out.

OK this is going to sound like a stupid question. I admit I should really know this, but I can not find the information any where.
Are the factory control arm bushings the same at both ends? I know there is no upper front control arm bushing and that that one is in the axle housing, but is it the same as the frame end? same question for the lower control arm bushings?
Keep in mind I have been burning the candle at both ends the last few weeks and my brain isn't quit functioning to full capacity right now. I am planing to try bang out a bushing replacement in one fall shortened day.

Thank you, that is what I needed to hear
I am heading to bed early tonight so I can get all 12 brain cells functioning for tomorrow
I really hate this new work schedule and not getting two days off in a row, but I almost doubled my income with the change so I will have to get use to it

Ok hive mind, got a 2" lift from BDS and will be replacing the rear springs. Looking at a set of 30 10.5 R15 Hercules terra AT II. Would those fit with minimal to no trimming?

Hi All! Sorry if someone has asked this already, there are a crazy about of lift Q&A's in this thread.
Anyway, I have a 1988 XJ 4dr, 4.0 2WD. I use it for my DD (maybe offroad in the future on weekends) but I want to lift it a small amount. Its got to be good for my DD and the word cheap cannot be used enough. I was wondering what a good option would be? I would like as much bang for my buck as possible. don't need high end offroad performance just mechanically sound.
I don't want to have to regear or add a bunch of additional cost other then getting 2-3" of lift (no body spacer junk). Would it also be really bad with a small lift to continue to run my 235/75/12's? I just bought a brand new set of Destination AT's like a month ago.

Sorry one last question...
Also want to expand the stance slightly, I like when the tires come past the fender slightly. Is this something that can be accomplished by a wheel spacer? or would I need to look at a new set of rims with more backspacing?

That being said, spacers are not something you want to cheap out on.

Very new to this forum and to the jeep world all together ( I come from a subaru WRX/STI background). Picked up a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4WD over a month ago and installed a 3" Rough Country lift and purchased four 15X8 5X4.5 with 3.75" Backspacing wheels with four 31x10.5r15 Mickey Thompson BAJA MTZ's. Took it to a garage to have the tires balanced and mounted and was told that the offset of the wheel is negative and because of that and the size, when the wheels are turned, they rub against the front bumper plastic inside near the wheel well and they stopped right there. I think they said something about rubbing the flares too so they'd have to go... They also said I needed center rings which surprisingly did NOT come with the wheels. So my question is... how do I make this work? Do I...
1. Cut/remove the end caps off the front bumper plastic?
2. Remove the fender and do some body cutting?
3. Would spacers be necessary?
4. Where can I purchase center rings for these wheels? (give me a link)
5. Any suggestions or advice for fitting these size tires on 15x8 wheels on 3.75" BS with 3" lift? Will there be problems with the back fenders are well?
6. Should I just get different wheels with a different offset/backspace?
All advice and information about this is super helpful
Thanks

Body spacers won't be a problem. XJ'S are unibodies...no frame.
