After doing a 3" lift I have picked up a growl/vibration when decelerating from about 50 mph, it goes away with a little throttle, and I have a vibration when accelerating between 40 and 50 mph. I will be replacing the u-joints in the rear drive shaft right after Christmas just to be safe, but could this be because of the lift? The U-joints feel fine and there is no play at either end and no clunking in the rear end.

A SYE is in the future, early spring when I put my other car back on the road, and can park the Jeep for a couple days. If the lift is the likely culprit I will make up a 1" TC drop to get me through till I do the SYE. I can make a couple of spacers for free and install them in under an hour in the driveway.

Do U joints and go from there. Also if that slip yoke is dry make sure its packed with grease.

Well there will soon be 2 running that kit on here that I know of.

Try the Wragler forums for review. Us XJ guys do not like to spend that kind of coin.
Yep, that's where I read all the reviews about metalcloak before I bought it.

After a few years of tearing up the stock parts on my 96 xj, I have decided to start adding parts. I accidentally purchased procomp springs that gave my jeep a 3-inch lift. Thats the only modification I have done so far. So now it sits 3in in the front and stock in the back. Is that bad for the jeep while I get money for the rest? Also, it shakes violently on the every now and then, usually when I go over a certain speed. What will fix that?

I wouldn't run it like that too long but the wobble is most likely due to the fact that after 2" you need an extended or adjustable trac bar. Getcha one of those on there and you shouldn't have that anymore.

Default Backspacing

I have searched but can't find a definite answer and would really appreciate some input before I drop a lot of money on new rims. I have a 98 Cherokee Sport. 2 inch lift in front and 2 1/2 inch in rear. I put 31 x 10.50 tires on 15 inch rims on it. They rub in the front when turning all the way left or right. I am considering going to 33's later and can't decide on replacing the rims or just putting on spacers. What kind of backspace do I need or what kind of spacers do I need? I really appreciate your help. Thanks.

3.75-4" is most common.

I put a 5.5 in lift on the front...already had a 3.5 on the rear...used 2 in shackles to compensate...it didn't work like I thought it would...should I jack up the rear and tighten the shackles to see if that'll work?

I appreciate the help...tired of the front being taller than the rear...

NO!!!!!!!
Your shackles need to be able to move aft. Your rig will ride like a$$ and your rear flex will suck as well.
