Short and regular what?

Rwkhaus supply has the beat gear packages I've seen for 30/8.25's or just prices for 30's and 8.8's.

It has TJ in the part number so I am thinking it's for a shorter pinion that uses a crush sleeve.

Check RWKHAUS supply

For better ride and articulation...yes.
Get the 3.5" leafs and a set of boomerang shackles.

Default Yet another size question, but wait!

What's the biggest tire I can put on a 2000 Limited?
Yeah I know "Do the search". I did and looked through them and couldn't find an answer. Seems everyone has 15" rims, but I have 16's. Can I still fit a 235-75, or should I go smaller? I want a lift but not yet. Got it pretty cheap so there's a little room in the budget but I want to hold on to it 'just in case'. Besides size is there a recommendation for who has the best for light off-roading.
Thanks to all you jeep wizards.
Oh, one other thing: My 96 Classic has 31x10.5x15's but no apparent lift kit. Does that make sense?
Tanx again.

2000 limited with stock fog lights? Good chance a deep threaded standard 235/70/16 AT may rub at full lock. That's only 29s.

"Standard" XJs through the '90s shipped with 28" (ish) diameter tires, 225/75R15.
235/75R15 fit without much rubbing if the suspension isn't sagging, which is approximately 29" diameter.
It is generally agreed that 30" tires require 1" of lift.
So without any lift, and good suspension, I would suggest that 225/75R16 (29.3") be the largest fit, or 235/70R16 (29").

What's the budget? Spending money on something now (tires) just to spend more money on the same thing soon (tires) doesn't make much sense to me. Unless you're talking about throwing cheap Craigslist used winter tires on for a season or something?

In what sort of terrain in what sort of weather? Do you need it to handle ice? You doing mud, rocks, sand, just some trails?

Somewhat. 31s will fit with no lift if you use aftermarket wheels or wheel spacers and trim the fenders. Bushwackers flares - which require removal of sheet metal - are the popular way to do this. However if the fender flares are stock then it's certainly lifted, probably 3". Measure from the center of the wheel hubs to the bottom of the fender flare. Stock dimensions are 17" center cap-to-flare in the front and 17.5" center cap-to-flare in the rear.

I run 36's on my 2000. 2.5" lift. However I am considering going back to stock lift height.

Actually I probably will leave it at 2.5. it was a thought. I ran 31s with minimal trimming, no lift.
