In addition to a basic lift kit...
Shocks
Brakelines
SYE
Driveshaft
TrackBar
Steering upgrade (cuz you're obviously going to run larger tires)

Are any of their parts worth using on Jeeps? Im looking at getting one of their kits for my next XJ but at the same time dont wanna waste money. Seems like you have info that would be useful to me and probably others on why not to go with Skyjacker. We all pretty much know why you dont go RC but havent heard much on SJ.

Ok opinions on the rough country 4.5" in lift? Don't have a lot of money (active duty Army) and from what I've read it seems to be a decent starter kit.

They're better than RC, for example, but they aren't great. Their Jeep kits seem thrown together. They're generally very stiff and rough on the road, as well as being stiff and not flexy offroad. I feel like they didn't do much in the way of product testing.

Don't. If you're on a budget, look at Zone Offroad or Iron Rock Offroad.

Zone is good for a budget build

Yup, I love mine. However, the leaf springs don't seem to be exact as my shackle angle is bad and rides like a dump truck in the back. After removing the rear sway bar it improved a little but can still be a bit stiff. You'll definitely need a new track bar, I went with RE adjustable and I'm about to install some Iron Rock Offroad adj lca and stainless extended brake lines.

With any aftermarket leafs, shackle angle is key to proper ride. I love my IRO track bar double sheer of course

Good to know. Thanks for the info will probably just go with RE then seems to be the better one around.

I am going to do a Rubicon Express 4.5" on a 2000 XJ and I was going to run Bilsteins do I need to get the ones for 3.5"-4.5" or 5.5"-6.5"? I was looking at the ones on serious offroad. Seems like a dumb question but I was wondering if I could get the longer ones but would the collapsed length be too long?

yes the collapsed length will likely be too long and you'll bottom them out

Default Lift, Wheels, and SYE

Hey guys, posted on here before but I forgot a few details I needed to add. I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport, I want to get it lifted enough to fit 17" JK 5 spoke wheels. Here is what I need to know..

How high of a lift do I need?
Will I need a SYE with that lift to eliminate future problems?
Will I get fender rub with that lift?(Considering if it is the bare minimum)
How long after the lift (considering it needs SYE) do I have before I need a SYE to prevent any damage from occurring?
Also what brand lift is good but also not very pricey.. say around 300$ Max.

Edit: The tire size is standard P255/75R17

Thanks for the input, all is appreciated.

Wheel diameter means nothing as far as lift height is concerned.
Wheel back space and tire diameter do.

2-3 in of lift. You won't know if you'll need an sye until after you lift. But with a 2000 it's more likely.

That's only a 10" wide tire but it's the height equivalent of a 32 so I'd say without noticeable trimming you're gonna need at 3". 3.5" should clear it on road but for any tuck room you're gonna need to trim

Edit: at least* 3"
