It is but Will was wanting to know how much lift he would lose by correcting the shackle angle.

Edit: I completely misread what you posted.

Oh well.

So i have to lose lift to correct my 90* angle? Well thats counter-productive.

No, longer shackles actually create an ever so slightly worse shackle angle. The shackles are for more lift.

The longer shackles allow for great compression/droop distances in the same way that your wheel has a smaller circumference than your tire.

As Tony said, it does increase the angle because the leaf spring doesn't get longer when you install a longer shackle. The fix for a bad angle is relocation brackets.

Bingo. Drives me nuts when people suggest a longer shackle to correct angle [facepalm]

Its geometry. As the fixed distance between leaf eyes pivots down, it draws the shackle towards the front of the vehicle...

Ahhh that makes sense then. I forgot all about the relocation brackets.

Hey guys I don't know much about lifts but I have a 1993 cherokee sport and I want to put on the 3" rough country lift ( http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_3.html ). I'm wondering if this would work without having to make any alterations. I'd like to get 32x10.50 tires on it and I am wondering how much trimming of the fenders I would have to do.

Thanks

I just ordered the OME 3.5" lift from dpg offroad, along with a few other parts like adj LCAs, longer brake lines, SYE kit..... Should I be looking at shackles? I thought I'd discounted them as not necessary for my build but now I can't remember why.

Your going to have a nice lift. Could get some low profile Shackle relocates. You only want a shackle, is your trying to go bigger.

Default What tires to go with on 17" aftermarket rims

Hey guys im new so go easy, i currently have a stock height 98 cherokee with 17" rims. They are 17x7.5 BIGG Joe Black rims. Whats the biggest tire i can put on these rims without a lift? I was trying to trade my rims and tires for a different set locally on craigslist with no luck so now im just looking for tires. Any help would be appreciated,

A 235/65R17 is 29 inches tall. That would work fine.

but I think I'd just have to get rid of the wheels too...
