I've check countless threads on this but can't seem to find the exact info. I cannot reuse my stock parking brake cable because it's too rusted, same for a replacement at the junk yard.
First, I've read 2 passenger side ZJ cables can be used. Then KJ cables are suggested by some, but others say they are too be too long and it's not good in the long run. Also heard about passenger side explorer and stock XJ driver side? Finally read another thread where they suggested these : NAPA #95064 (77.16") & NAPA#95969 (50.16") but I don't know what vehicle they fit.
Can someone point me in the right direction with a definite answer?

I've got brand new MORE cables I bought when I did my ZJ swap, sold that axle before I got to install them though.
You can pm me if you're interested.
The Napa ones should work as well, I would use two passenger sides though depending on your lift height.

the napa ones I posted seem to be for an explorer and both state "rear right" so they are already passenger side cables (not the same part # and not the same length, so I'm not sure). I have 4.5" of lift, eventually I'll settle at around 5-5.5.

The 97+ use totally different style e brake cables. If your stock cables are long enough just order new replacements.
I tried the Explorer passenger & it was really long & the end that went in the equalizer was smaller than the other one. It worked but I wound up going back with the stock cables & looped it over the arm. Secured it with a cable clamp.

they work but they're pretty tight. both are the same length too, aftermarket replacements state 53" total length.
let's say i get replacement for my 96, i will have to trim the little spring that goes in the backing plate right? but I would only have to loop the end and be done with it?

the year is written under my location and post count in my browser (on a laptop) so it probably doesn't appear on the phone.

Got all the parts for the ZJ to XJ brake conversion and was wondering what E-brake cables actually work. I've seen 96 - 2001 Ford Explorer cables will work on 1994 Jeep XJ. Anyone been successful without putting the clamp on the end of the XJ cables.

I got these when I did my disc swap and have no complaints.

It says fitment for '84-'96 I'm sure the have them for the later years also, if nothing else gives you the length needed.

However, they ended up being over $100CAD all said and done, and the CAD was quite a bit better than it is right now when I bought them. I might take an hour to try and do the stock cables>cut spring>loop crimped end>tighten with cable clamp method first to see if you can get something you're happy with without spending money.

yeah that's the problem with us canadians haha, i'll try to crimp method with my current lines first, and if it doesn't work i'll probably get those.
I ended up getting these cables as well, and they work great.
