aftermarket HID problem
Hi y'all well I bought a set of HIDs off eBay and they look great but I have a small problem with them. when I turn the jeep on and turn my headlights on they come on and all but when I go to turn my headlights back off they don't turn off they stay on till I turn my ignition off witch is a problem cause if I turn them on while I'm driving I have to stop shut the truck off to turn my lights off I was wondering if anyone has put HIDs on there rig and if anyone has had the problem

I'm currently experiencing this problem. Some times it happens, sometimes not. I've been doing some research and the headlight delay system tends to mess with hid systems. There is a plug under the dash you can pull to disable it. I'm going to try that and see where it gets me. It doesn't make sense how the ballast stays charged up and pushes power to the lights even after you kill the power at the headlight switch.. I'll figure it out eventually!

For the people having this problem, did you use and upgraded relay harness or just the basic plug and play setup consisting of a ballast and bulb? I had the same issue, added the relay harness, problem solved.

In the mean time, you can switch to your high beams while the jeep is off, it's basically the same type of thing as a toggle switch. I did a relay too and still had the problem. Switching the high beam on while the jeep is off seemed to solve he problem for now. If I don't do it, they will flicker and make a terrible buzzing sound.

You need to remove your headlight timer fuse. Or also known as headlamp delay fuse. It's the ecu that controls the headlight timer freaking out since it's a different wattage confusing it

On 97 and newer the timer is behind the driver side kick panel. It should click during the issue your having. Locate and disconnect. On 96 and older find the under dash fuse box on driver side look for fuse labeled (hdl dly) or something close to that. If I need to I'll get a picture of the fuse location tomorrow
