After market help!
I have a 92 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4x4. Dana M 30 Front axle, Chrysler 8 1/4 Rear axle, AW4 Transmission, and 242 transfercase. I am wanting to know what axle and gear ratio to go with on both front and rear. I am also wanting to switch out my transfercase so one that allows FT 4x4 as well as 2 wheel drive. I'm a bit lost on what i should get. I'm new to the Jeep after market parts!
Thanks in advance!

I am wanting to know what axle and gear ratio to go with on both front and rear. Why? Bigger tires? Towing? I am also wanting to switch out my transfercase so one that allows FT 4x4 as well as 2 wheel drive. Your CURRENT transfer case is exactly what you describe. I'm a bit lost on what i should get. Are your intentions with the FT 4WD to be able to use it on pavement in 4WD, like a modern Land Cruiser (Permanent 4WD) and still be able to run it in 2WD if you like? (The Land Cruiser can't do that.)
I'm no help for the transfer case, I think you would have to go with a more modern one out of a Grand Cherokee, they can run 4x4 on road.
As for axles and gearing, it all depends on what you are looking to accomplish. Are you looking for hardcore wheeling? Are you looking for something that is going to last you for a while and handle some light abuse? For the latter, your stock setup is fine, however, when (if) you re-gear, upgrade the axles to 29 spline.

I am looking to make it "factory" looking but able to take severe towing. As for 4x4... It is only pt high and low and 2x4. I want full time 4x4 option as well. I do not plan on lifting. Thanks again.
