Default add a lift

adding a 3" lift to my stock 1999 XJ w/ a tow package ... had to put on 2" front spacers to level the rig out and was wanting to put 31" tires on her and found out that they will not clear the front finders... so now i have boutgh a 3" lift and was WANTING TO KNOW if i need to take out the front spacers???? if not will i end up with 5"s of lift up front and need to buy other things to make it work???????

if you leave the 2" spacers up front and add your 3" lift kit you will have 5" lift in the front and 3" lift in the rear

but you could add these for the rear

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...ntifier=204654

but you will need at least a transfer case drop and axle shims in the rear...

as well as new control arms in the front, uppers and lowers...

longer brake lines... new track bar...

the list goes on and on

Just toss in my opinion and that is never never use an add a leaf as a lift. Ever. Just use shackles.

Add a leafs are fine... as long as your stock leafs in good shape and not sagging...

the problem is most people try to use them on a set of springs thats sagging 2" lower than stock

as for shackles... they can make your springs sag after a while too

I drilled out both uppers on my 95 and 01 xj. Put longer bolts thru and it was fine. The floor eventually started to warp so I made 8x8" steel plates for support
