hey guys. not sure if this is technically a question for the mod sect but my cherokees a 4.7 stroker so i thought yes lol. ok theres 7 quarts of oil in the jeep now. the dipstick is readin bout a quarter of an inch, maybe a lil but more, under the add line. wtf? 7 quarts n still not full? do i keep adding oil till its above add? i looked n made sure the dipstick tube was in all the way n it seems to be. theres 2 ribs on it and its all the way flush with the first rib. thanks for any help!!
Are you sure it's the right dipstick?
If you're pouring single quarts they can be a slight bit shy from oil coating the inside of the bottle so I can see maybe a 1/4 quart extra at most to make up for that. If you're at the low line you're either a half quart or full quart low. Did you run it before checking it?

Still though, at 7 quarts I'm pretty sure that my stock motor would be reading at least at the full mark. I think I put in 6 quarts and hit it towards the high end of the readings. It's been a while since I changed my oil though, I'm due for that haha.

there are two ribs showing. the one is at the base of the hole in the block and the other is jus there. is the first rib supposed to go down into the block? it would make sence but i wasnt sure. i thought it wasnt all the way down either but i tapped on it lightly n it didnt move very much.
