99 long arm xj rough ride!!
hi there im new here, i have a question i never seem to find an answer to.
ive got a 99 cherokee xj with a 6inch full traction long arm lift, with 2 inch coil spacers up front. the jeep does great on the trails, but as far as going fast over bumps or down a bumpy street it rides horrible, feel every bump on it !!!. it has procomp shocks. im thinking its the coil spacers because the coil looks compressed a bit from the spacers . but ive never heard that those could cause a rough ride. thats just my hunch. anyone have any advice? i would greatly appreciate it!

It looks like those rusty's coils have a 180lb spring rate, I'd say that's right between soft and stiff. Stock is something like 150lbs. I plan on getting bilstein 5100's for the front end after I put my long arms on.

I'm betting your lift has poly bushings. Poly bushing while will improve the handling will degrade the ride quality. Also Pro Comp shocks are notorious for being stiff. I would start there then try a different spring rate. The spacer would have no effect on the ride at all. Unless it was causing the suspension to ride at full drop. Which your pics show is not the case. EDIT: I looked up the Full Traction lift and I see it actually has Heim joints. Yes they provide better articulation of the component, but they also will transmit the most vibration, or shock into the mounts. Basically they give awesome flex, but a horrible ride.

^What he said. Ive managed to soften up my ride with weight. Not sure what your springs are rated for. Id check shackle angle for sure. Also what tire pressure are you running?

What is your shackle angle like it should be about a 45* angle under you static load of your vehicle. If it is less than that aka close to straight up and down it doesn't let the shackle cycle properly and is almost like a rock. Other than that new bilstein or fox shocks will drastically help also.
thanks for all the input guys!!, i do have angled shackles, the roughness is coming from the front of the jeep. but yeah sounds like it is my shocks, i will get new shocks in the near future. those fox ones sound pretty good i was looking at those the other day..
has anyone tried those adjustable coil spacers? i dont know what brand they are
