It might look a little funny because the 97+ flares will stop above the bumper line. The older flares continue down to under the fender. This is because the 97+ bumper corners continue the contour of the flare in it's design. Just google some pictures of XJ's and you'll see what I mean.

I've already cut the fender, so no issues there!

Ah, then it might look ok!

Same goes for the rear though. It may not look as bad as the front on un-cut fenders.

Here's what they look like on my 87.

Some have used the rear fender flares off a tj on all 4 corners.
