Default 97+ Brakes in renix...

I badly need my brakes fixed, but have some questions. Would like these answered quickly if possible, so I can call around to junkyards.

Symptoms:
Pedal goes almost to floor and hisses. Jeep does stop, I have been driving it.

What I think it is:
Bad booster/mc

Questions:
I know 95-96 is an upgrade (dual diaphragm), but will the renix style Master cylinder work with it? I dont want to have to deal with flaring new lines, etc.

Ive heard the problem with 97+ brake booster is that the rod is too long, what if I switch the pedal too?

If 95-96 or 97+ wont work with renix MC, the 91-94 booster and MC is a direct fit, right? This jeep is stock, so Im not to worried about the "inferior" booster/mc.

The plan:
Currently is to pull my 97 booster/mc, lines, prop valve and brake pedal out of old jeep.
Only problem I see is the brake switch wiring, but Ill figure something out.
Thinking about it, the pedal should be in pretty much stock location.

If theres any reason it wont work, please tell me. Pulling the pedal/booster/mc looks like quite the chore.

not hard to do at all. and worth every bit of it.

yeah the pedal rod is a little bit longer, but by the end of the day, you will be used to the new height. not detrimental in any way.

i would use the 97 master with the booster. i bent the one line by hand, but you will need another line about 12 inches made up with the bubble flare on one end and the double flare on the other. this is the line from the proportioning valve body to the master.
the master line locations are on the opposite side of the renix master, but nothing to worry about.
i found it easier to remove the distribution block/proportioning valve from the master and divorce it to mount in the renix location, that way you won't have to replace those lines.

as for the pedal rod, i had to ream out the hole for the pedal post and grind the end flat for the brake switch. again, very easy to do.

this will be the first mod i ever do to a renix jeep from now on.
total time (first timer) is about 3 hours. only because i had to take an hour to get the new line made up from a brake shop.

you won't believe how easy this actually is to do. i didn't even have to bleed the brakes, but i did anyways.

Thats better....

So I shouldnt worry about switching the pedal? I have the whole 97 jeep sitting right next to my renix...
Ive also heard you can straighten out and reuse the 97 MC to Prop valve lines, so Im gonna try that first.

yeah, don't worry about the pedal rod.
you can use the front brake line going from the proportioning block to the master cylinder, but the rear one is just too short. besides, it needs a different flare than the one on the renix. as far as i can remember anyhow.

but it is a very simple job to do with minimal experience and tools.

i can take a few pics in the morning, if it's not raining.

K... Send pictures if you want. One of the pedal would be nice too, so I can compare.

Been working on a radiator swap all day, now my fricking thermostat housing is leaking... grr.
