oil cooler
hey just wondering about throwing an oil cooler on, and ive read some previous threads, and my questions are....
do i want the style that goes from the oil filter then into the block?
do i need any other fittings, or is it just plug and play?
do i reallllly need one? my 2000 runs hot on the trails, and i feel like this would offer some extra insurance to my motors life.
Thanks!!!

Yes, the transmission can get over heated. One of the problems with the AW4 transmission in that it does put out a lot of heat, and if it is pumping hot transmission oil into the radiator it makes it harder for the radiator to dissipate the engine heat. If you think that maybe the transmission is running to hot install a trans temp gauge so you know what is going on, heat kills transmissions.
