97/98 Cherokee
I have a 98 Cherokee Sport 2wd and I have put a transmission and transfer case out of a 97 Cherokee and my P R N and 12 works great but the D & 3 I have to push the gas pedal almost to the floor before the jeep barely moves and my engine rpm goes high I have the transfer case in 2wd and my front drive shaft ain't even on the jeep the 97 transmission and transfer case was sitting outside the shop where I bought it on concrete for I don't know how long so is my D & 3 like stuck from sitting or is the transmission gonna have to be rebuilt or what?
Can I use a front end out of a grand Cherokee on my 98 Cherokee or does it have to be a Cherokee and what years will work?
If my 97 transmission is gonna have to be fixed can I connect the transfer case to my 2wd transmission and it not mess anything up?

97 Transmission is not compatible in a 98, 97 is an odd ball year and can be made to be compatible with 96 and older, but not 98 and newer.
This Post should help you understand - http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1053970
Yes an older ZJ (NOT 1999 or newer WJ) Grand front axle should work.
I doubt its your Transfercase, but you could either jack up the rear axle or drop the drive shaft and see if the rear yoke spins with the trans out of park. (BLOCK THE FRONT WHEELS SO IT DOES NOT ROLL AWAY OR OVER YOU !!!)
And a 2WD Transmission can not be easily made into a 4WD transmission, you need to pull the whole transmission apart to swap in a different output shaft.
I have done a few 2WD to 4WD swaps - matter of fact the one to the left is one "The Yeti"
