Default 97-01 124amp Alt. In a 96???

hey guys i was just wondering if the 97-01 124 amp Alt. will swap right in into my 96 xj please need help asap thank you in advance

No, 99-01 alternators have a plug on them as the -98 use the bolt on harness. Most 97-98 XJ's have the same 90amp as the precious years. Get the 130amp from a ZJ. It's direct replacement after pulley swap. If you get the 136amp you will have to modify mounting bracket

any year ZJ? 4.0l? because the 136 came in the v8s correct?

136 came with I6 and v8. Same with the 130amp. My 130 was from a 98 ZJ v8. Last 2 numbers of 130 is 12, 136 is 13

I don't know if this helps but when I needed an alternator for my 2001 XJ (the pulley was locked up) I grabbed one from a 1996 that had a good pulley and just swapped the rear section that has all the plugs on it. Haven't had a single problem since

the only alt. i could find at my local parts store is a 120amp from a 96 ZJ with the 5.2 my buddy at the store says everything is the exact same just need to swap pullys he said he didnt have a listing for the 130amp
