'96 and Earlier LED Bars in Headlight Bezel Mod
Hi all, I just finished up this little project a couple days ago and thought I would share it in case anyone else liked it and severla people have asked for some pics. I haven't seen anything similar done yet. I didn't think to take pics as I was doing it so this isn't really a writeup.
They are two 9" 54 watt LED bars from ebay I got for $90. The marker lights are Maxxis Hot Spot 3/4" amber led lights. I have the amber lights wired with the resistor and diode method to work as both marker lights and blinkers.
What I did was first figure out about where the lights needed to sit to look right in the bezel then cut out the fiberglass to fit them in. Once they were able to fit I needed to find a way to mount them. They have a single mount on the bottom that is adjustable from side to side and how far up/down. First I cut out a hole in the bottom of the header panel just enough to fit the mount through the bottom (about 2" by 2"). To mount it to the header I used about a 3" by 5" piece of 1/4" steel I had laying around from doing shackle relocation brackets. To space it below the panel I drilled four holes both in the steel and the panel and ran 4 inch and a half 5/16" bolts through. To get the proper height I spaced the plate down using washers and 7/16" nuts. I ended up with 2 nuts and 2 washers to get the bars to be the right height for the bezel. Then I finally drilled the hole to mount the bar to the steel plate. I made it larger than the bolt to have some adjust ability forward and back and side to side.
I did this because I have the stock bumper and and led bar won't fit right on it. It would have to be clocked forward, and then the first time the bumper hits something, the led bar would get smashed. I plan on building a bumper but I want it nice and tucked up so there would be no room for the bar then either.
As you can see in the following pics it came out nice and clean looking in the end (or at least I think they did). Hopefully this can be a good option for others if they like it. Thanks for looking!

These are the amber lights (DOT): http://www.ebay.com/itm/370544881700...84.m1497.l2649
Right now it's 14 degrees out, I'll do a writeup in the spring or something. Light output is amazing, more than I had hoped for. The headlights barely have any effect once the LEDs are on. If youve never seen LED bars before, they're bright! I got the flood beam since I'm usually just crawling but they also make these in spot beam pattern.

Truly awesome! If i hadn't already out LED turn signals in mine i would totally do this. Great work! I just got my first LED bar (13.5") and love the output, blows away a set of 55w lights... at less draw too.
