Default 95 XJ suspension question

Hello,
My name is Matt. I have a 95 XJ 4 door/Auto. My front lower ball-joints are in need of replacement, and I was curious if a lift kit would incorporate these parts? I am new to all this, so please forgive me.
As the jeep is 17 years old, I imagine that other parts would break during the ball-joint replacement, and raise the cost of the repair (with stock parts). I thought if I could have a kit installed for a bit more, and get a few inches extra, then why not?! The jeep is in good running shape, a/c works, 4wd works, and I only have 175k on it. So I thought I might throw a few bucks into it to try and get a year or two (or more) out of it, then get something newer. I used to off road a bit when I had a 91 YJ - it was stock, but great fun off road....I'd like to do some more of that!!
What would you recommend? I don't need anything crazy, but if I can get a little lift, for a good price, and keep my jeep running "safe" then I'd be happy.
Any assistance you can give me would me MUCH appreciated.
