Default 1990 jeep cherokee overheats

The first time my radiator hose bust and coolant went every where.. yesterday I was wheeling it and the cap bust off and we all know what happens after that. I've read that air could be in the system, something could be old and cracked, or the garbage cap that doesn't even match the threads on the coolant cap could be letting air out and causing it to over boil.. help!

*coolant tank* not coolant cap.. everytime I get home from school it sounds like someones boiling hot dogs and frying eggs under my hood so I know air it getting out.
