I recently swapped out my tired 91 engine for a 2000. Yes i know about the 0331 head problems. for the time being i used the 91 electronics. So now i have the complete wrecked 2000 to pull parts off of and will start doing the interior swap soon. I have been searching for weeks for a deff. answer. Now maybe you guys can help. Here will be my final setup,Let me know if it will work please. 91 trans...2000 engine, wiring, dash, computer ect...97 TCU.

Now i have been searching the FSM at the 2000 and the 97 for the TCU wiring and physically the only thing diff is the addition of the imput sensor in the 2000. Theoretically i should be able to put the 97 TCU in and move a few pins around so it will control the 91 trans. Looking at the 91 FSM also doesn't show much diff. from the 97 wiring. just a couple grounds for the sensors will have to be relocated.

My Question is, will the 97 TCU work with the 00 ECU and control the 91 trans.

any help would be very appreciative.

 

I found some write ups for swapping a 97 tranny and TCU into a TJ so im assuming that the 97 TCU will talk to the 00 ECU just fine. I hope. so all i have to figure out is if the 97 TCU will control the 91 Tranny.
